MARTIN LANGER

MARTIN LANGER
was born in Hanover in 1959.

He began his career as a cameraman, after being an administrator, in 1989/90 in two university projects by Caroline Link and Martin Enlen, both of which were nominated for the so-called "student oscar".

In the 1990s he made a name for himself in the advertising branch, making television/cinema commercials with well-known directors, such as Niko Karo, joschmid, Caroline Link, Detlef Buck, Philipp Stölzl, Andreas Kayales, Mona El Mansouri and many others. Parallel to his television work, Martin Langer continued his career path as a movie cameraman. In the meantime he has received every important award which the german movie industry has to offer.

He has worked together with director Roland Suso Richter on many of his films, including "14 Tage lebenslänglich" (14 days lifelong), "Bubi Scholz Story" , "Nichts als die Wahrheit" (after the truth), "Der Tunnel" (the tunnel), "The I inside", and "Eine Hand voll Gras" (a handful of grass).

In 2005 the movie "Sophie Scholl" (directed by Marc Rothemund) received the prestigious silver bears and the european film award for best director and best leading actress and was nominated for an Oscar in the category "best foreign language film".

The movie "Die weisse Massai" (the white massai), directed by Hermine Huntgeburth, was the most successful german film in 2005.

In 2006 the collaboration with Matti Geschonneck, one of the most admired directors, started ("Boxhagener Platz").

Martin Langer received in 2009 once again the "German Television Award" for "Auf der Sonnenseite" and was nominated in 2011 for the fabulous movie "Lessons of a Dream" to the so called "Lola" (Bundesfilmpreis). This year, he recently finished shooting the movie "Da muss Mann durch" with director Marc Rothemund. He is a member of "European Film Acadamy" and board member of "Deutsche Filmakademie".

Martin Langer lives together with actress Barbara Auer and their children in Hamburg.
